Konami's European president Shinji Hirano has explained why the Japanese Developer decided to move its European headquarters from Germany to the UK.

After an inauguration ceremony at Windsor Castle, attended by guests including Konami's founder Kagemasa Kozuki and the UK's minister for the Department of Culture, Media and Sport Ed Vaizey, Hirano suggested the move will spark an exciting future for the company:

"Windsor makes sense for a number of reasons. It's a fantastic town, with good links to Heathrow and London. In terms of available space, it also has the scale of building that is suitable for our very ambitious expansion plans.
"It is part of an overall restructure, which will allow us to work more closely with our individual territories. Key areas will benefit from new investment, as we look to take the company forward.
"We live in an ever evolving market, and Konami has always adapted to face new challenges - and will continue to do so. Growth in digital titles and the challenge of new formats mean this is a very exciting time for us."

The new office - a 7000 square foot holding at Morgan House in Windsor - will house both a general digital team and a specialised team for Pro Evolution Soccer.

Konami have said the new PES studio will help them capture the "majesty of European fooball", with improvements promised for areas including presentation, translation and commentary.
