CVG have posted a shortlist of games that “will define gaming in 2012”.
The most interesting point - for PES fans anyway - is the inclusion of Pro Evolution Soccer 2013. Here's what they had to say about this year's title:
Release Oct 2012
Why is it hot? Exciting new tech could challenge FIFA
Konami's game might have been outsold 20:1 by FIFA 12 in the UK (globally, it's much tighter), but PES 2012 made vital critical strides - it leapt to an 80 percent Metacritic score, from 77 for PES 2011. With the core game in great shape, an accompanying visual leap is vital to sway the mass market - and Konami, we hear, have big plans in this area. The spotlight will be on EA's superb FIFA, but this could be the year PES finally gets it right. We've said it before, but... well, a nice shock might await.
Of course, we're still a long way off PES 2013. The game's yet to be announced and naturally, it looks like we're going to have to wait a little while longer before the first details hit.
Promisingly though, we have been told that the first PES 2013 announcement will come earlier than usual this year.
When that date will come, we're not exactly sure. However, with the introduction of a new engine (with new tech), it's hard not to get a little excited about all of this.
It's going to be a long year...
