The patch has been out for a week now, and the reception on the PES community has been undeniably positive. It's safe to say that players are enjoying a much better game now, after a few concerning issues have been fixed.
Although you have to be honest and admit that perhaps these problems shouldn't have cropped up in the first place, you have to take your hat off (well, maybe... it's pretty cold at the moment!) to Konami and accept that they have done very well handling the initial problems, and overcoming them all by releasing a game-changing patch - that's in a good way of course!
It's obviously a tad early to start talking about PES 2012, but it will be interesting to see how Konami develop the game; will they change PES so much that they need to release patches to iron out the arising problems - like we've seen in the current title, or will they feel that the patched PES 2011 is a good enough base, and from that, avoid any big jumps and resist changing anything major in terms of game play?
The play seems much more fluid, the AI of the CPU has been improved dramatically, and the game as a whole seems much more of a challenge now. I'm not sure why, but I was playing it yesterday and I had an odd feeling of nostalgia - something had been missing since PES6, and I'm not too sure on what it is, but it was back!
Thanks again to Konami for the patch. I, like most of you I'm sure, are very grateful for their work.
